Rock n’ roll super duo Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile joined forces for their excellent new record, Lotta Sea Lice, and brought their tour to the Fox Theater in Oakland on October 18th. Backed up by the Sea Lice (Rob Laakso of Vile’s band The Violators, and Janet Weiss and Katie Harkin of Sleater-Kinney), they played a set of songs from the record, which rejiggered versions of Vile’s and Barnett’s solo songs, and covers of Belly’s “Untogether,” Gillian Welch’s “Elvis Presley Blues,” and Jen Cloher’s (Barnett’s partner and opening act on the tour) “Fear Is Like a Forest.”
