LA duo Best Coast have announced that their third record, California Nights, will be released May 5th via Harvest Records. Singer/guitarist Bethany Cosentino told SPIN last year that the album was influenced by the likes of “the Go-Go’s, Gwen Stefani’s ‘Cool,’ and, only kind of jokingly, Sugar Ray.”
If you want to get a glimpse of what a sort-of-Sugar-Ray influenced Best Coast song sounds like, the band are playing a handful of California dates this month, including the Noise Pop show at Bottom of the Hill on Feb. 24. That show sold out quickly, though, but tickets will be available at the door at 8PM on the day of show.
The band have released a short trailer for California Nights, and while it’s only 31 seconds long, it confirms that this is still a Best Coast record: Straight-forward rhymes, images of Cosentino’s cat, and a swimming pool. Check it out, and the rest of the Best Coast dates…
