Almost ten years after the last Luna show, frontman Dean Wareham announced via Twitter today that Luna will play their first reunion show at the Echo in L.A. on April 13 before heading to Spain for the previously announced short Spanish tour.

After seven studio records and a live album, Luna played their final show at the Bowery Ballroom in New York in February 2005. Wareham told Rolling Stone last October that the reunion was “casual” and that the band won’t be embarking on a full-fledged cross-country tour, but will play a few “fun places” like New York, Chicago, LA, and San Francisco.

Wareham last played SF last June, when he and bassist/wife Britta Phillips played the Chapel, and threw in a healthy does of songs from the Luna catalogue (as well as a few Galaxie 500 songs, though that reunion probably won’t happen anytime this side of a frosty night in hell). Here’s hoping an SF date is indeed on the docket for this fall. Or, maybe, during an Indian Summer.
